Days of Travel: Vienna State Opera

The Vienna State Opera has to be one of my most favorite parts of my visit to Austria’s capital. That and the United Nations Office.

Glad I took time to tour the Opera house. It was most interesting.

The photo above shows where the audience sits.

Ceiling of the Opera house.

This was the Opera stage.

A naughty looking angel stares down from the ceiling.

Grand hallway makes you feel like you went back in time.

The hall which honors famous composers like Mozart and Gustav Mahler, who was one of the conductors at the state opera.

This is where some of the receptions are organized. Look at the grand crystal chandeliers.

The tour also brings you backstage so you get a glimpse of the mechanisms involved in changing the sets during a performance.

I hope to catch a performance at the Vienna State Opera someday.
